I thank God for what people say about my Hats.

If I ever thought that writing about my hat-adventures would be worth the time that thought has been and continues to be concurred and reaffirmed by the many people who I have met. This blog is about one incident of “Some of the Wonderful Things People Say about My Hats”. Let me share a special moment that made me smile regarding the hat that I wore to work last week (see the picture below).

This memorable story is called “Lady”

My hair has been growing back since I lost it all from the chemotherapy for the treatment of breast cancer. It is a bout ½ inch in length with a slightly thinning area at the top of my head. If you are new to this site, you will soon become aware of the fact that I love wearing hats. I have been wearing my various hats every chance I get with a wig prior to two weeks ago, but now I have moved on to just wearing my hat on my new “fro”. I will tell you more about this evolution in another story. Let’s get back to the special moment….

Recently while I was at work (and that’s a great thing to say) I was approached by one our hospital staff. I was sitting at the computer working when a staff whom I was familiar with walk over to where I was working. She paused and smiled while looking at me in my hat. She then said “now that is what is good about a hat it says something about being a lady; that’s not a look you see as much as you used to, ladies wearing a hat”. “It is so nice’.

So I asked her “do you have a hat? And she said “yes, a couple of straw hats to wear when it’s sunny”. That’s great I said, so then I suggested that she should consider getting another kind of hat that she could wear for a lady’s day out to lunch. She smiled and as she smiled I noticed there was a certain look on her face, as if she was thinking of what kind of hat to get, or where she would go if she had that hat and maybe who would she take with her on that adventure.

This imagination-journey all started with that hat that I now call “Lady”. The possibilities are endless when you factor in a hat. A hat tends to tickle the imagination center of your spirit. And that is a good thing to do….

I hope she does get ‘that hat’…. If she does then that event would warrant another story…..

The Power of God is awesome and I have it in me…… Let’s go…..

Easter has come and gone but there will always be a reason and a season for wearing hats. I went shopping the Friday before Easter in search of a hat to wear to church on Easter and I found three...... I had received my income tax refund and decided since I am in the hat business I needed to have a stunning hat to wear to church on Easter Sunday. Or was that just an excuse to go shopping and for a hat. Okay…. I am going to admit that it was due to both reasons.

In El Paso, Texas my favorite place to go shopping for hats is at Dillard’s in Cielo Vista Mall. That was a commercial moment and they deserve it. Dillard’s store carries some of the most awesome and affordable hats that you would enjoy spending your money on in these economic and stringent times. I like shopping for hats at Dillard’s, because they have a vast variety of hat styles, sizes, and colors. Their hats range from the minimalist version- such as one made like a dome-frame decorated with the smallest amount of material to the overly abundant version made up of bodacious volumes of fabric, uniquely decorated with eye-catching embellishments.

Here are pictures of the three choices of hats that I bought that day.

I spent so much time trying to decide between the three that I just gave in and bought all three. The salesperson noticed my plight and was kind enough to allow me space and personal time to overcome my conflict and finalize the sale. While I was at the check-out she gave in to her curiosity and asked me which hat I was planning to wear on Easter Sunday. I still was not sure which one of the three hats to choose to wear on Easter Sunday to church but I told her the turquoise colored hat and she smiled in agreement.

At that moment I thought it would look perfect to wear to church on Easter Sunday. I had already picked out the matching outfit I planned to wear.

On Easter Sunday I wore the green hat. Did I choose the right one? I think so…..

However, the cocoa hat has been given rave REVIEWS every time I wear it. It is such a crossover hat. You can look dressy, classy or casual with a twist…….
